Driving Bayeux to Mt. St. Michel where would you stop & spend a few hours?

I think the title pretty much sums it up. That's what we'll be doing this Friday afternoon, so excited!

I should probably say that we will have seen the tapestries the day before and will be doing an a.m. Normandy tour (I hope--I forgot to make reservations early and have a request in now). We aren't doing a full day tour as we would like to be in Mont Saint Michel at the time those tours conclude.

Need clarification: you will leave Bayeux at the end of your morning tour and want to be at MSM late in the day? Guess you could have lunch in Bayeux, visit the cathedral there, and then head to MSM, perhaps making a detour to St.-Lo? Not sure if there's much to see there, but it did play a prominent role in WW II, being almost entirely ruined.

Yes, we are leaving Bayeux around noon. We will have seen the tapestries the day before. More WWII history would be interesting, thank you.

sorriso--this suggestion may be the tiniest bit out of your way, i.e., not precisely on your route from Bayeux to Mont St Michel, but I offer it in the event that your Normandy tour plans don't work out.

In the town of St-James, SE of MSM, is an often-overlooked WWII cemetery. Here are buried the remains of 4,400+ American and Canadian military personnel. Like the more celebrated ones, the Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial offers an inspirational visit. We're always amazed by its beauty and the loving care provided by its staff.

Here's the website--have a wonderful trip!

What's included in your half-day Normandy tour? I can't imagine you will have seen much of the many WWII/D-Day sights in such a short timeframe...

Yes Jean, it is a short tour. We will see Longues-sur-Mer Batteries, Omaha Beach, American Cemetery of Colleville, Pointe du Hoc.

Thank you for the suggestion lifes2short.
