Drivina to Siena

We plan to drive from Florence to Siena, making a stop in Greve, but would like to take a train back from Siena to Florence that same evening.

Can I rent a car from Flornece, leave it in Siena to take a train back from Siena to Florence? I just don't want to drive from Siena to Florence in the dark night.

Any suggestions? Another thought is that we can leave Florence for Siena and stay 1 night in Siena. From there depart to Sorrneto the following day.

Why don't you catch the bus both ways, apart from being easier, metre is a high risk of substantial traffic fines in Florence if you mistakenly drive in a restricted zone. I haven't done it, but you can probably catch a bus to Greve and then on to Florence.

It's a multi-lane divided highway so it's not that difficult. You wouldn't take the road you took through Greve which is a 2 lane scenic/twisty road.

Connections to Sorrento are better from Florence than Siena.

You might consider just booking a day tour from Florence. This is one company, but the tourist office in Florence will have lists of tours.

You can take a bus to Greve from Florence, but not on to Siena. In season, there is a bus (only twice a week) between Greve and Siena.

Oh ok, thanks kybourbon. I'm such a dope, I meant to type Greve to Siena but thankfully you read my mind.
