Driver's License Valid for Over One Year
I am reading that when renting a car in France rental companies require you present a US drivers license that has been valid for more than a year. While I have been driving and had a valid license for 45 years, my license will be renewed in August at the end of a 5 year "term" and a month prior to my rental in France. My license does show an "issued" date which will show august 2007. Anyone have any ideas how the rental agents on the ground in France interpret this requirement. Although it should be obvious I have been driving for many years I am afraid they will go by the strict letter/interpretation of their policy and refuse to rent to me. Perhaps I'm reading too much in to this.....

Yes, you are. Don't worry 'bout it. Are you making the rental prior to your trip (you should) and are you in touch with Andy at Gemut.com? |
Hi R,
If you are over 25 and have a valid driver's license, you are OK. Enjoy your visit. ((I)) |
I suspect the intent is probably preferring to rent to those people who have been licensed for more than one year, don't you agree?

Yes, 45 years will do. Rental companies do not want to rent to people who have only had their license for 364 days.
