Driver needed for Venice to Lake Como.

I am looking for a private driver or car service to take 3 adults from Venice to Lake Como. Would appreciate any recommendations.

It might be an idea to take the train to Milan and then get a car and driver.

That is about 250 miles -- I'd think a driver would cost an utter fortune.

Are you willing and able to pay for this? If you are then I'm sure you can easily find someone using the internet if nothing else. You used it to post here.

Otherwise I agree that taking the train to Milan and THEN getting a car service would be a better option.

I get the impression you know NOTHING about train travel or you have decided it isn't a good idea. Which is it?

I would ask your hotel in Venice and also ask on the Cruise Critics forum for cruise ship travellers.

Just so others know, while expensive, it is not unusual in Italy for people to hire drivers to take them very long distances, between Italian cities or from rural areas or airpots to Italian cities -- and sometimes the cost split between several people are not really unbearable.

(For instance, here is a service that takes individuals from Genoa to Milan Malpensa airport -- that's a 2.5 hour journey -- and charges 350e. For 3 people, that's a bit less than 120e per person, and while 3 times the cost of a train ticket, many would be quite happy to "splurge" rather than haul their luggage up and down stairs in train stations. People routinely pay and advise others to pay that kind of money for a car transfer to Lago di Como from Malpensa Airport.

Traveling from Venice to Lago di Como is a bit over 3 hours -- so I would expect the cost to exceed 400e. Again, can imagine some people having good reason to think that is just as much an aid to their enjoying their trip as to people who spend hundreds on private boats to take them around Capri or a private capsule with champagne on the London Eye.

oops, sorry -- forgot the link

unfortunately they don't service Venice, but this is a typical kind of taxi service one finds in Italy, especially in ports.

Posters, read the OP's other threads to get an idea of the OP's travel style.

Just looked up costs for 3 people taking the train to Milan and THEN hiring a taxi:

Absent discounts, 3 train ticket buyers could expect to pay 135 euros just to get everyone to Milan. Cost for private driver from Milan to Bellagio is 250e, although maybe one could find a cheaper service

The cost of a car transfer all the way is probably cost competitive.

I would rather pay hundreds of euros to ride in a limo from Venice to Lago di Como than on tickets to the Tattoo. People have different .... travel desires.

Thank you so much massimop. After my previous post I had intended to take the trains. But as I thought about 3 adults, each with luggage, I thought it may just be easier to hire a driver. At least worth an investigation.

Last year I used Lake Como Transfers to pick us up in Lucerne and take us to Lake Como (in a very comfortable Mercedes) then drive us to Zurich a week later. They were wonderful. I think it was about 400 euros for the first trip and 500 euros for the second. Here's their website:
