I suggest that you re-post the question and mention that you are seeking to hire a driver for Naples to Ravello.

Best wishes,

Hi aos,

Are you flying into Naples?

If not, I suggest that you take the train to Salerno.

From there you can:

a. Take the ferry to Amalfi (very scenic)and then a cab to Ravello
b. Take the SITA bus to Amalfi (also scenic in parts)and a cab to Ravello
c. Hire a limo to Ravello

If you are flying into Naples, I still suggest taking the train to Salerno.

Having gone through the list above the only ones who I know are fully licenced, fully insured and who operate fully licenced (plated) vehicles are Salvatore,Francesco & Giovanni( Benvenuto)

The others maybe, but I do not have personal knowledge of their services

We just returned from the Amalfi coast and we used Renato Cuomo's services. They were reasonably priced and always reliable. Their driver was waiting for us in FCO to take us to Positano even though our flight was over an hour late. www.cuomonet.it

I have known this Sorrento family for over five years, used their services, and highly recommend them:

Steve,

I agree he has been done a big mis-service by those (maybe rivals) on these boards. All drivers here are strictly licenced as are the vehicles (not authorised) by the local commune (council or local authority) similar to many countries but even more strictly enforced and Salvatore has of course been licenced by the commune of Amalfi (please check) for many years and is one of the most respected Drivers there is and he is the inhouse driver of the Santa Caterina Hotel in Amalfi (Five Stars) so of course the APT in Amalfi know him very well (please check).Contact Armando di Palma the General Manager of the Santa Caterina for a further reference. You are correct he does not use currently use a website. As for the Yellow pages unfortunately it is about as much use as a pair of skis on the AC where everybody knows somebody and I cannot recall the last time I saw the Yellow Pages or heard it mentioned and it is strange for you to mention it.

You are obviously a regular visitor,so please let me know when you are visiting next.

Thanks

Gerardo

Ciao Gerardo,
Yes, I know of at least one who is a very reputable driver with an overeager son who was trying to help the family business this way, and they corrected the mistake as soon as they realized it.
I am glad you posted the lisencing rules here,, because many first time travellers to the area really need to be well-informed, and not to get the wrong impression. Of course all drivers are in business and want to make a good living, and those internet tactics can sometimes take the form of a partita di calcio!!! :)

Hi Bellastar,

An unlicenced Limo Driver would last 2 seconds on the AC and if his was lucky he would get caught by the Police and if he was unlucky he would get caught by the Taxi drivers !.
