driver/guide for excursions from dubrovnik
 

thinking of spending a few days in dubrovnik. would like to do full day excursions to both kocula and another to kotor/kotor bay. Interested in options regarding hiring only a driver versus driver who does guiding, versus drive plus minus guide. Reason one local tour company quites 300 euro for each excursion. We will be two to four people. interested in suggestions for drivers,etc. I dont want to do the driving myself. Also some comparasions of the hilton in dubrovnik versus pucic palace. Pros/cons. Troubled that could be unlucky with the bed/breakfasts within the old city (too niosy, multiple flights of stairs/ unruly neighbors-with little recourse). Thx

We used a driver who is technically not a guide but he offered a lot of information along the way. He drove us to Kotor and "guided" along the way with some special stops that made the trip more interesting. I think we paid 200 euros for the service. We would highly recommend him since he made the trip for us.

We stayed at the Hilton and thought it was perfect. The location is wonderful and the staff was excellent. We have not been to the Pucic so I can't compare the two. The hilton bell desk was booking drivers for guests for 200 USD. We did not use their service since we already made arrangements but I did talk with other travelers who were happy with the service. Vedran Cikato <[email protected]> was the guy who emailed me back from the Hilton.

please advise if this drive/tour was most recent and if your driver used his own car. Were there additional charges? Please advise me who vedran cikato is: the coordinator for excursions.

The tour was at the end of last month. There were no additional charges except for lunch. Our driver used his own car and the Hilton drivers did the same.

How funny -- Rob & I were in Dubrovnik last month. Wish I'd had the name of your driver. We used a different one to go to Montenegro for a day and he was okay but not great.
