Driver Age Limit in Italy for renting a car?

Is there an age limit for renting a car in Italy?? I'm pretty sure there is one in Ireland, at least there used to be, but not sure about any other countries. Need to plan for a possible trip to Tuscany next June. many thanks.

Taconic:
I rented in UK and Portugal last year at 79 and with a cane...no one blinked. Already reserved cars in Dijon, France and Asti,Italy, at age 80, for October...still no one asked. If they refuse I'm taking along my "trophy" wife so she can drive if need be. So there!

Hi tt,

You have to check with the rental agencies.

Hi TT - Try Hertz. I believe they are one of the companies which don't have an upper age limit.

STu: Many thanks. Your experience gives me hope. I'm right up there with you, but don't know what to do in a pinch, cuz I AM the trophy wife!! Maybe DH, the "old boy" will have to find another younger one!!
I'll check with Hertz, thanks Steve_James. and Ira.
