drive time from Chianti to Venice
 

Even under good circumstances is this too much? Especially if we want to stop in Modena & Farrari? What would be a good place to stay one night between Florence and Venice if it long for a straight drive though. I would like to see Vicenza also. (I know, add another week to my already becoming crammed 2 weeks schedule!) Thanks

According to www.mappy.com, Greve in Chianti to Venice is about 3 hours. Add some time to that; mappy.com tends to underestimate.

The route suggested takes you close to Ferrara, but going to Modena as well would take you out of your way, and the trip would take 4.5 hours (plus some).

What do you want to see in Modena? In Ferrara? If you leave Greve (I took that as "Chianti") at 8:00 a.m., you would normally get to Venice at, say, 1:00 p.m. If you are prepared to get to Venice at, say, 7:00 p.m., you can spend three hours each in Modena and Ferrara, but at the end of the day, you would feel that you had run a marathon...

And please forget about adding Vicenza to the same day! You can get from Venice to Vicenza in about 45 minutes to an hour by train.

Look at the www.viamichelin route to Venice via Forli and Ravenna. It's about 5:30 hr.

Thanks you for the information. I just thought the Balsamic Vinegar factory & the Ferrari plant would be interesting? If not, we can skip those and maybe see Vicenza then go on into Venice? So I gather once you get to Venice (for 3 days) might as well check in the rental car? You've been a great help, first time to Europe so I'm grasping!

Sorry, from the way you wrote "Modena and Farrari," I thought you meant the two cities of Modena and Ferrara.
