Can anyone give some advice on hiring a car and driving through France/Belgium/ Germany to Austria then Switzerland and back into France especially some stages of the Tour De France. We thought of starting in Frankfort/Munich and finishing there as well, or even Brussels as we will fly to Uk afterwards, Dates are 26th May to 20th June.
We are looking (4 pensioners) for nice countryside/ historical features/little villages and not the big cities. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Pyrenees not too far away and Provence and Med Coast some Italia on your way back might be a nice route for you.It has
been for me in the past.

Compare prices. I am doing two rentals for a total of $628 plus road tax and RR station pickup for rentals from June 2 to July 10 through Kemwel and Autoeurope. These are one-way rentals in France. It is with the smallest car available with standard shift. My credit card will carry the CDW with no deduction. I doubt that a lease will beat this deal.

On the other had, if you want a rental with full coverage and no deductible in the rental agreement itself, a lease might turn out to be worthwhile.

Check www.kemwel.com or www.autoeurope.com (they are sister companies but their rates differ) for either the lease of a Peugeot or their rental rates for the car you would want.

For a Renault lease, look at http://www.renaultusa.com/ , but you will have to adjust the site for your country of origin which appears to be other than the U.S.

For an itinerary that stays predominantly in the countryside, you could use the <i>plus beaux villages</i> as a guide (there is a Michelin map that has them)
