Drive outside of Paris
Going to be in Paris for 6 days next month. Thinking on this trip I would like to rent a car and drive for an overnight stay in another town/village/city. Any suggestions on what might be the best (and yet closest) place to have a quick excursion outside of Paris?
Thanks, DK |
Renting a car for just one day will be very expensive, and you can get to most places around Paris by train.
October is beautiful in Burgundy; take the TGV to Dijon and spend the day. |
Another possibility would be to take the one-hour TGV trip to Tours and get a tour of (or train back and forth to--takes longer than an organized tour) Chenonceau or other chateaux.

Troyes is a nice town.

So is Auxerre.

I take it you have done all the things in Paris? It is not easy to rent a car in Paris, get out of the city and to somewhere in a particularly enjoyable manner plus, as has been said VERY expensive. Take the train if you really want to go somewhere else. Lyon for a memorable meal, Rouen, Tours and tour the chateaux, etc. Or even plan a day just outside the city like to Giverny or Auvers sur Oise.
