drive from Split to Dubrovnik
Any recommendations on side trips? We will be arriving from Hvar in Split early and want to pickup a car and drive to Dubrovnik. I it worth taking a side trip into Bosnia? Any thoughts on things to see/do or places for lunch or "brunch "? We will be meeting another couple for dinner in DBV and dont want to arrive too late.
thanks |
Driving from Split to Dubrovnik, you will pass through Bosnia. Have your passports ready, as they may ask, but mostly they will just wave you through.
You don't need to do any side trips as you will be passing through some wonderful little towns. Be sure to stop in Ston, for the fresh mussells as you should arrive at lunch time if you leave Split early enough. Dobrodosli An American Living in Dubrovnik |
thanks for the info ...how do you feel about a side trip to mostar?
|
If Mostar interests you enough to even consider it, then go.
It is an easy drive from Split, and also back down to Dubrovnik. Try to factor in an overnight stay if possible. I wrote a report after my visit last October, here is the link, and hope it helps you make up your mind... http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=35086450 |
If you are at all interested in gardens or anything horticulture a must-see is Trsteno on the way to Dubrovnik. Very pretty - tons of huge trees, all sorts of citrus, stupendous views.
