Drive from Nice to Portofino
 

We are thinking about driving from Nice to Portofino during our honeymoon in late April. Has anyone ever done this drive? Would you recommend driving or using other transportation (the train)?<BR>Thank you!

We did it and took our time. Be prepared for the darkness -- we counted 124 tunnels on the autostrata between Monte Carlo and Rapallo. We left Nice after breakfast, stopped and walked around a bit in Santa Margherita and still arrived in Portofino before 1 PM. The road from Santa Margherita to Portofino is a little scary. We were behind a large tour bus, which we felt was clearing the way for us around the many blind curves. Actually we found this part of the drive a little scarier than the Amalfi coast, but I wouldn't let it worry you.
