Drive from Lake Como to Venice
Planning a driving vacation in Northern Italy (prefer driving over trains). Booked 3 nights in Cinque Terre, then 2 nights in Lake Como. Have one night we're not sure what to do with before leaving the car at the airport and spending 3 nights in Venice. Would welcome ideas on where to stay between Lake Como and Venice. Is it worth driving to the Dolomites for one night? If so what villages?

Three nights Lake Como, two nights Cinque Terre would be better allocation of time.
Add the extra night to Venice. Dolomites are too far for one night. |
Depends on what you personally like to do & eat as to how to allocate the time. For me, Lago di Como is a day trip without much interest other than the glorious view. I much prefer the sights, food & aromas of the Riviera.
It's too mucn hard driving to swing through the Dolomiti for just one night. What week in the year are you traveling? |
Just as a one-night stop, you might look into staying at a winery in the Veneto region. We stayed at the Alice Relais winery. I highly recommend it.

Thanks for all your good suggestions. There are just so many options in Northern Italy. I have a feeling this will be the first of many trips!
