Dress code at nice restaurants in Provence and Riviera?

Hi-

Can someone tell me if formal attire is required at one and two Michelin star restaurants in the Riveria and Provence. For instance, are men expected to wear a suit? We are hoping things are a bit laid back here and we won't have to pack too many fancy clothes.

Thanks,

Mike

Ditto to Lou's answer. For women's wear, a nice pair of black pants with nice shoes and different blouses got me through our visits there.

Mike-- I went to two different two-stars in Provence. To one I wore a nice dress (although no nylons). To the second I wore what was more like a sundress, and felt a little less comfortable. I believe my husband wore jeans to one (although with a jacket), but I don't think that is ideal. However, a suit is definitely not required, nor is a tie.

Ahh, thanks for the replys. I wasn't sure if the dress requirements were the same as some restaurants I have been to in Paris.
