The pictures coming in are horrific and think one of the men in the lorry is holding hostages in a hotel but who knows. The lorry window is filled with gunshot holes.

I"m scheduled to visit France for the first time next week and to be honest, I'm starting to have some reservations. I'm heartbroken that this keeps having in France. My prayers go out to the victims and their families.

Such a tragedy. I was there in May,on my annual visit to a city that I love
My prayers and thoughts are with the people of Nice.
It seems that this madness will never end.

I agree denisea, totally pointless. Don't these "religious" (and I use that word sarcastically because they are not religious in the least) people have any scruples or morals? Doesn't Islam have restrictions against murder?

The Préfecture de police tweeted. “No fire at the #TourEiffel. An accidental truck fire took place. It is put out.”

Just awful. I love Nice. I stay on the Rue de France, just a block from the carnage. I cannot imagine how anyone could do such a thing.

Was in Nice at end of May. So hard watching the tv images of places we saw during our visit. My heart goes out to the families of those injured or killed by this senseless act of violence.

We also stayed on the rue de France and cannot imagine the horror of this latest massacre. We love Nice very much and send healing thoughts to all its citizens. Waiting to hear from our local friends.

I'm in shock. A friend just got to Nice and posted pictures of himself having lunch with his family. Then (before any news broke) he's posting about the truck and shooting. Hiding in his hotel with a Slovakian family and the truck was right in front of them so their 12 year old saw it all.

My thoughts are also with the people traumatised for life by what they saw.

Very sorry & kindest thoughts for everyone concerned.

Just heard from friends who were there, but left to go back to their hotel just a few minutes before the truck arrived on the scene.

@nanabee, of course EVERY faith has restrictions against killing people, duh.

My heart goes out to Nice and everyone affected. The murderer wasn't checking identity or religious affiliation or age or gender. He was out to kill humanity
