Just in general, there is no such things as having too many maps in Italy. Sounds like you're packing enough, and they are readily available along the highways and at places that sell newspapers when you get there.

Some of where you are going in Tuscany is so simple and so well signed, that any good map of the region. especially a well-marked tourist map, will get you to a sight like Sant"Antimo without a GPS. Where a GPS can be really useful is when you get lost and you know how to plug in your hotel address!

But one problem I have using a GPS in Italy is that so many streets and towns have the same name (how many Monteleone are there in Italy -- and where did the lions go?) Without noticing what I was doing, I've sometimes ended up calling up directions for some street or town in an entirely different region of Italy, and the GPS starts steering me there.

Once you are in Italy, it doesn't take long to figure out the logic of the road signage system and how to figure out your route. Finding a parking place once you are there is usually more difficult!
