Down travel pillows

Santa Claus arrived today. Thanks to SeaUrchin...at least I think it was SeaUrchin who posted the info.

I just ordered the down travel pillow that converts to a down pillowcase. Wonderful. Beautiful. On sale for less than 1/2 price from Restoration Hardware. Bought a bunch for Christmas presents. This is going to be a record for early Christmas shopping for me!

Can't recommend them highly enough!

I ordered them also from the same recommendation, and mine arrived yesterday - lovely, especially when slipped over the full sized pillow to add a down layer.

Found the original post. Thanks to Thatgirldina for the tip! The pillows are great!

You're quite welcome! I just love mine and can't wait to use it on my upcoming trip to Paris. :)

Actually I ordered one too! I love it.

Do you toss the entire case into the washer? I don't know if down is washable...

starrsville Feb 15th, 2006 09:02 AM

Yes. Wash and dry.

I wash both my summer and winter weight down comforters. Front loading commercial washers are best for the bulky items.

Just noticed this and looked it up on Restoration Hardware. Is this the travel pillow listed for $14.95? Had not heard of it but certainly sounds INTERESTING. Do you bundle it up for use on the plane or what? Thanks much for any info. Halfpint

Yes. That's the one. There's a down pillow case (with zipper) to put a hotel (or home) pillow in. The travel part of the pillow is a travel sized pillow case. So, you fold up the pillow case and stuff it in the travel size pillow case. AND there's a plastic zippered case to put it all in to keep it clean when you aren't using it. Very handy. Very nice. Very good quality.

Thanks so much, am going to try them. Halfpint

I believe this is the link if anyone is searching for this online

It is indeed.

I'm headed to the mall tonight to try to pick one up. I've been searching for a good travel pillow forever! And at less than $15, what a steal

g33kgrl Feb 15th, 2006 09:34 AM

TexasAggie, I wouldn't waste time going to the mall--the description specifies catalog and Internet only. :-)

My luggage was stolen on a recent trip and the loss of my down travel pillow has been my greatest regret. I was just considering this version as a replacement. It's nice to hear such glowing reviews.

Thanks to all for the heads up.

This pillow looks sooooo good, BUT I will definitely lose it in my sleep! Anybody knows of down pillows horse-shoe shaped? Or of any way to keep this one in place?

starrsville Feb 15th, 2006 11:44 AM

Sorry for the silliness, but all of a sudden I visualized an adult sleeping on a plane with a binky holder strapped to the pillow. It would work, I guess, if you didn't sleep with your mouth open. :-)

Oh, no. Is this going to draw "not kid friendly" kind of comments?

noe847 Feb 15th, 2006 12:23 PM

You can wash small down items in a home washer and dryer. Put a few clean tennis balls in the dryer and the down will fluff as it dries.

Which would be better for typical allery sufferers - this down case or the microfiber one sold by Lands End?

i can only speak for myself but as an allergy sufferer down is dreadful for me. i would think the microfiber one would be better.
