Dorset UK
Hello Everyone,
Have you been in Dorset Uk before? If so, please share your experiences/opinions about it. I am planning to relocate to England, and I am interested about the Dorset area. Any suggestion would be helpful. Thank you very much. |

Parts of Dorset are very rural but there are also large, busy towns like Bournemouth. Where are you going to be?

janisj, thanks for your feedback. I am thinking about moving south. It would be great to live year-round by the sea.....Looking for a fresh start in a healthy environment.

Dorset's lovely, particularly the more rural parts.
Here's some info on living in the area: http://www.dorsetforyou.com/index.jsp?articleid=2251 |
And you can get an idea about house rental prices here: http://www.thinkproperty.com/renting/directory/Dorset
This assumes you have the legal right to work here, as I said in your other thread. If you're only a US citizen you would not get a work permit for a basic admin job. |
Nonconformist,
Nice to hear from you again :) Although I live in the US, I hold an EU passport. So, I do not need a work permit. I have decided to create my own relocation plan and I found your feedback to be highly valuable. Thank you. |
poole and bournemouth only urban area. dorchester, blandford etc are really market towns. b and p are in commute distance to london so suffer with mockney and city traders.
new foerest north of b and p is hyper expensive. meanwhile wharem along the coast is twee with swanage lulworth great in summer but empty and dull in winter. if were me look at blandford piddletown shaftesbury triangle emulates real dorset. if it is coast you want then go west of chesil beach |

You have omitted my home town of Weymouth, a jewel on the South Coast! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weymouth |
look there is no nice way to say it but apart from the kite festival some great scenary and a swan fascination the place is a dump
|
Please forgive me. What was I thinking?
You are so right. The place is disgusting. I shouldn't have let my bias get in the way of trying to help the OP. You still omitted the third largest town in Dorset, even if you don't like it Oh well, back to Trip Advisor. |
Steve, surely the point is we all give advice and it doesn't have to be the same advice just what we think. I think it would be cruel to send someone to Weymouth without a range of opinions. Still I didn't say what I think of Swanage!
