Lovely, Michael. You must've been up early, or been very patient or lucky, to get that shot of Monpazier with no humans in the square.

We stopped in Monpazier late in the afternoon in late June or early July. But I have never encountered large crowds there.

Enjoyed the pictures. I remember someone on this board said Hautefort was mostly interesting from the outside. If so, is it worth detouring from the main north/south route to see the outside? How long would a detour like this take?

If coming from Limoges, Hautefort is on the road to Montignac and Sarlat. I would suggest a visit to the Museum of Medicine in the 17th century hospital building that is in the town itself (to the right as you look at the picture). The grounds of Hautefort are a traditional <i>parc &agrave; la fran&ccedil;aise</i>.
