Dordogne/ Paris weather mid-October?
 

Looking for some guidance about the weather near Sarlat the third week of the month. Mainly about what kind of outerwear to pack..thinking a leather jacket..?? Will be in Paris for a week at the end of the month.... weather somewhat like New York...sweater and light jacket at night..sweater during the day....?? Many thanks!

I would love to hear from someone familiar with this region in the fall. Thanks again.

Moolyn, thanks! I hope that we will have lunch there after the market in Le Bugue; it sounds lovely.

We had frosts a couple of mornings in Sarlat slightly earlier than you will be there, but it was plenty warm enough to picnic by noon and was not unpleasant to walk around looking at menus at night.

Checking the actual forecast for your days would be a good idea because the weather is very individual. On our last November trip to Paris, I never really needed more than a blazer, but we almost froze in Arles, usually much warmer, because of wind. It was warm again in Aix.

We have an unexpected chance to go to Europe in mid-October this year, and are considering Dordogne. Would that be a good time, or should we save it for another year?

October can be wonderful here in the Dordogne. When we first bought our house, we arrived in October and since we had no furniture, sat outside on the wall for all our meals. I remember sunny golden days for the full two weeks.

It will definitely be cool at night. Unusual to get any frost, but then the weather everywhere seems to be unusual these days.

One of our neighbours tells us that this is a year with 13 lunes - 13 cycles of the moon. This means that we are a month behind and in 'moon calculation' should only be ending June. Would also mean that October weather will be more like September. We'll see.

Bring layers.

I thought that you might have a reason for our odd weather here in Madison, GA.

However, June was more like August.
