Dordogne/Lot Accommodation?

We are arriving Toulouse to spend 11-18 March exploring the Lot/Dordogne area by car. We would appreciate one or two recommendations for accommodation (B&B, 1/2 board or similar) with some character and some room to base ourselves. Price idea 45-70 Euro range.
Many thanks,
John

John:

I have spent some wonderful times in and around Toulouse and the Dordognr and Lot valleys. If you dont mind driving an hour or so North of Toulouse via the N20 to Lamagdaleine, a small town 5 miles north of Cahors via the D653 road, I would highly recommend CLAUDE MARCO. It is a one star(Michelin rated) restaurant with 4 rooms available. The least expensive room is 480 FF(May 2000). The rooms are lovely, overlooking vinyards and the food is among the finest in France. M. Marco sweats the details..and it shows!
FAX: 05 65 30 31 40.

Regards.
Luis

John--
As you probably know, the Lot/Dordogne area has hundreds of neat little villages with all sorts of B&B's and small hotels. I will give you some recommendations on hotels in some of my favorite villages:
-Village of Limeuil: Les Terrasses de Beauregard, on the Dordogne.
-Village of Lalinde: Le Perigord.
-Village of St-Cirq-la-Popie: Auberge du Sombral and Le Causse.
-Village of Brantome: Perigord Vert.
Hope these suggestions will help.

I haven't been here myself yet (looking at it for fall 2002 or spring 2003) but I really like the looks and location of
http://goto-france.com/bandb/24jaonnet/jaonnet.html
Just south of the Dordogne near Domme, 3 nights minimum, 1/2 board required, 520-560FF per couple (+/- 80-85 euros, but includes breakfast and dinner with wine.)

A second recommendation for Claude Marco. We stayed there last September and thought it was excellent. The rooms and bathrooms are large and modern, and the dining was outstanding. The four bedrooms face onto a swimming pool, used only by people staying there.

We stayed at a terrific and beautiful B&B near Paunat called Moulin Neuf. It was rec. in Karen Brown. It was terrific and a real bargain.
D
