Nope - we were there in early Sept a few years back and just caught the first trip of the AM. If you are staying close to the departure point - ask them a few days in advance about reservations. We saw a large tour group descend on a boat - so you may have to juggle around any tour groups.

No. We usually go by the kiosk, sign up for a trip in a hour or two's time, then go have lunch or a cool drink in town.

>>then go have lunch or a cool drink in town.<,

We kinda did the same - walked through the pedesrian only streets of town for about 3/4 of an hour before the tour.

Should be no difficulty finding a seat in late May. There are occasional days in springtime when the river is closed to navigation, due to big rainstorms upstream and high, fast water, but you'll probably have no problems with that by the time you're here. The gabarres and canoes are already out right now.
