Don't scream at me...

Alan- if you booked your trip on AF based on the notion that smoking is permitted on their planes, I would say you were misguided, on the basis of my recent experience. (AF flight, aircraft, crew, etc. -- not a smoky butt in sight. (Maybe Philip Morris should start an airline?) And don't be so sure "air rage" (is there really such a thing?) is caused by thwarted smokers -- I'm seen some pretty unpleasant scenes involving the anxious/angry ones stuck in smoky "no smoking" zones. (Cough, cough.)

And then there are the seats... the legroom.....the "food".....etc... Given that there are fewer smokers than non-smokers I seriously doubt *that* is the problem. As has been well noted on this forum the airlines treat us like cows on the way to slaughter... <BR>

Yeah Martha, thanks, that's what I was trying to say. I guess I didn't make it clear to which "ones" I was referring. I meant the ones like me, in the completely non-smoking AF departure lounge at JFK, having to dodge the smoke from the nervous Frenchman who was pacing nearby.

Isn't it funny how this subject makes some otherwise very nice people so rabid? It's become one of the things you don't debate, like religion and politics, with any hope of changing another's mind. In answer to your question, Alan, Aeroflot still allows smoking. I think they fly out of both coasts, and maybe New York, but I'm guessing.

Aeroflop??? NJ do you know what are you talking about? Did you ever flopped with its planes? Or do you know about any crashes of them? I personally have flown by Aeroflot several times and so far my only bad experience was to sit in a smoking row (I'm a non-smoker) during a trans-atlantic flight. Well, then it was not funny for me and I did wish it would be a non-smoking flight.

I agree with you Ko. I also flown Aeroflot and found it much better then ie British Air. Legroom was very good, seats had adjustments that you could control the angles of your back and seat. Headrests had adjustable sides so your head did not end up on someone's shoulder when you slept. Service was great and very pleasant food was great and plane was latest 777. And their last 4 rows are smoking section, so if smoke bothers someone they should stay away from the back sections (crew is also very understanding and will move you or switch you with someone that is willing to sit there).
