Don't know what to do next.......

I had planned a three night trip to Vevey, Switzerland. Staying at the Hotel des Negociants. Here's my delemma. Continental cancelled its flight to Switzerland for May 14. So, I e-mail my booking agent, in Switzerland, to cancel my hotel reservations for three nights and credit back to my credit card the full anount for three nights. I've e-mailed them several times, and I get absolutely no response. I called my credit card company to dispute the charges since I get no response from the booking agent. Has anyone had this type of problem, and how did you go about getting a refund? Continental gave me back my refund for the cancelled flight. Thank you for your help.

I'm sorry Seemore, Butt your name has me in stitches.

It cannot be real, can it?

As long as you cancelled prior to the deadline for no-penalty cancellations, you should not have a problem. If nothing else, your credit card company should be able to remove the charges if there are/were any. I recently had to cancel my trip to France the day before I was leaving, and cancelled my hotels via email. It took a couple of days for all of them to respond, but I was not charged.

Hi,

It is likely that your Swiss agent figures that it's not worth the bother to eml you back.

As long as you fulfilled your obligation re cancellation your credit card company will deny the charge, IF you inform them of the date you sent the cancellation notice.

I wouldn't book a hotel through a booking agent, but I think you should cancel directly with the hotel. You have no way of knowing if your booking agent even received your email and you may be liable if it is not cancelled in time. At least call your booking agent, I think if you are going to cancel and use an agent, you need to take responsibility for making sure it is really cancelled by the deadlines. Sometimes email systems do go down or servers or computers. At least FAX and then you have something in writing that they were notified if it includes a transmission notice saying all pages went through. You have no documentation they received your email, it sounds like.
