don't go to Greece
Message: This is the first time I have ever had to warn people from one EU country, please don't slag me of you only have to pick up tomorrows paper to say I am right....

Tourists have no rights in Greek law and are treated unfairly. I know and have seen a few cases now where tourist have been on the wrong side of the greek law for what ever reason and with trial already declared GUILTY, this is a country that should be in the EU with human rights NO way!!

Just look at the way they are treating the 12 plane spotters (no I am not one) these holiday makers have been holed up in a crowed dirty cell where they are only allowed out twice a day to eat the toilet is a hole in the floor and they have a very thin matress i could go on... These people are not spies they are tourist who should be bring money into the Greek tourist industry.

Unfortunaley Greece has many beautiful regions, however it takes one simple thing over there and they are a law to themselfs. Not even Tony Blair could help you and our foreign office don't even want to know

Maybe you are going or looking into going my advice to you is, stay in the hotel, and don't socailise with any one you don't know WHY recently one couple got put in jail for talking to another couple they had met out there who got arrested for possing drugs. This couple did'nt even know and were found guilty and given 2 years in jail

Tell me one other countrys in the EU that does this???? have a good holiday

bye

sid

are you kidding! look no further than Turkey!!
|
agree with last poster. Not only is it forbidden but it is also obvious as there are plenty of warning signs( in English) around anything military. Sid you make it sound as if they throw you into jail at the slightest whim!! Where would the mass tourist industry be?
Please remember that Greece is a country that has had more than its fair share of strife and occupation. And don't say it won't happen in the present day-after all, you only have to look as far as Cyprus.Yes i feel sorry for the "plane spotters" but I also can understand the Greek point of view.
|
I think this is a troll!!! Sid is pretending to be English but look at the way he writes- mistakes galore!!!!Perhaps he is Turkish???!!!!
|
agrees with Wendy,
this might someone that just wanna tell how bed Greece is. Could happen to everyone (friend of mine was not allowd to see his boyfriend that was lying in hospital after accided - she has to leave USA with the next plane going to Europe - no chance to talk to anybody). The world is not fair at last.
Even I also feel sorry for those spotters have been trwon into jail. BUT: in every tourist guidebook there is a warning. even there are a warning signs on every airfield. AND: Those guys have done a organiced tour with a specialist on airspotting. What kind of amateurs they are?
Mich

Cheers I'm not a turk, I could'nt be more BRITISH and take that as an insult.

Tomorrow please buy the Daily Mail (an english paper) read it and send in the coupon to free the 12

Bad spelling due to doing this quickly i'm not sorry

Thank you to all who do this

sid

English is obviously not Sid's first language. We all make mistakes when we write these messages, but the way he forms phrases and sentences tips you off right away that.

Why are you insulted that someone thought you were Turkish?
|
One caveat: if English is Sid's first language, then my previous good impression of the British education system (up until university) has just been revised downward.

What is Mich's first language???
