Donostia San Sebastian hotel help please!
 

I've gotten rooms booked for our entire trip, except for 4 nights in San Sebastian. I just can't decide, Hotel Niza, Hotel Palma or Pension Amaiur or Pension Aia. The pensions look interesting, but no air, is that a problem in late June? Any other suggestion in that price range? The Maria Christina just won't work for us. Thanks!

We really liked Sercotel Codina. One mile from the city centre and 250 meters from Ondarreta Beach. There is a bus stop right in front of the hotel but we enjoyed the walk along the beach to the centre. We had a sea view from our room and there is a nice grocery store a block away where we picked up picnic snacks and wine.

June should be no problem in terms of heat...in fact, living here, I know nobody with AC at home, we just don´t need it.

I'd choose Hotel Niza, and if you can get a room facing the beach, perfect!

Four very different options. Niza would also be my first choice, right on the landmark La Concha beach promenade, and as central as it gets.

My second choice would be Pension Aia in the more laid-back and local atmosphere Gros district across the city river Urumea. 2 mins from the fabulous Zurriola beach (more waves), but still only ten min walk to the Parte Vieja (Old town), the center and La Concha beach. The Parte vieja itself can get very noisy, so I wouldn't stay in Pension Amaiur. Also almost next door to the Santa Maria church with the church bells etc. Besides from this Calle 31 de Agosto is a very nice street, the oldest in the Parte vieja, with several excellent pintxos bars and restaurants. Hotel Parma is on the traquile edge of the Parte vieja whcih faces the end of the Urumea river along the fine Paseo de Salamanca/Paseo Nuevo where you often can see the spectacular waves hitting.
