Domodossola

Could you tell me whether this would be an interesting place to visit? I was thinking of travelling by train between Locarno and Brig. Thank you!

I took that train ride many years ago and think it was one of the most scenic rides I have done. DId not get off in Domodossola however

My family and I took the Centovalli train from Domodossola to Locarno last June and will second the comments that it is a fantastically beautiful journey, although, only about 1 1/2 hrs. long. Be sure to look for the tall belltower at Intragna-pictured in Swiss Transportation System tourist information. We did not look around Dom., but have read it has a good market day/days. Some of the tiny villages along the Centovalli looked quite wonderful(including Intragna), if only from the train window. We will be in this area again this summer and will take the centovalli train again, stopping at some of these villages along the way. Good luck.

Domodossola is merely the town in which you change trains to get to Locarno. This is a very worth while trip. We did it and loved it. You won't be disappointed.

Jen, By chance we saw a poster for the train from Locarno to Domodossola. It was a highlight of our trip, very scenic. While in Locarno, take the funiculare to Orselina and from there the Funivia to Cimetta, lovely views.
