Dolomites question
 

I'm headed to the Dolomites for 4 days of hiking next month on my Delayed Honeymoon. I'm quite allergic to bees and wasps and usually when I go hiking/camping in summer and early fall I always take an Epi-pen. Never had to use it, but I always carry one in my backpack. But it seems that mid September up in the Dolomites could be so far into the end of the summer/fall that maybe the bees and wasps have already left? Or maybe there aren't so many? Does anyone know what the bee and wasp situation is up in the Dolomites in mid-September? I don't mind carrying the Epi-pen, but it's just one more thing to remember.

I doubt it that time of year, but I would ask my hotel.

If I were that allergic, I would carry an Epi-pen anyway.

It doesn't take up much space....just put it in your carry on now.

Hello, hikrchick, I have never "noticed" any bees or wasps in the Dolomites in September but having said that if I had your allergy problem I would make sure to pack the Epi-pen. Make a list of what you need to pack and consequently you won't need to "remember" it or anything else that will be important to have with you while on your trip.

you all just confirmed what I already knew in my heart. I guess it's like carrying an umbrella -- it never rains when you have it, right? It's not such a big deal to get the prescription, it's just a pain in the *&^ (literally, ha!) to add it to the ever-growing list of stuff to do in the next 2 weeks, besides packing.

And I'm not sure I would want my DH to sling me over his shoulder to get me down a mountain if I encounter a little buzzy guy at his wrong end. ...

I carry my epipen hiking also. I found myself fretting the one time that I left behind. I don't mind taking as it's small and light but grrr! Do I hate paying for it. Euro100 ad a short shelf life too. Double grr! Best of luck or the trip.
