DOLOMITES

Does anyone have any suggestions for places to stay in the Dolomites possibly near Bolozona. We are traveling in 3 days and I am having a difficult time locating a place that is in the country but nice. I had seen one place called "Club Diana" but can't find it again. Any suggestions of places. Thank you for your time.

Cathy, I would stay at Orteisi in the
beautiful Val Gardena---probably the
Amgelo-Engel hotel. Go search under
Val Gardena and you will find a great
site with many options---anywhere in
that area will be good. Try to drive
over the Sella pass as you depart for
some of the best scenery in Europe.

I love the Dolomites and agree that the Val Gardena is a great place. We stayed in St.Cristina which is near St.Ulerich (sp). I just showed up at the "I" office and asked around during a very busy time and found a remarkably beautiful little lodge "Tranheim" located near a rushing river. There are trails all over the place. mountain bikes go for $10usd per day and the food is great. There is a big aquatic facility in St. Ulerich. Buses run up and down the valley. I do not know what your mean by nice, but these are Germanic folk who maintain beautiful, clean small hotels. The Ladin's are beautiful people. I did not want to leave; alas, my wife and daughter extracted me from this wonderful place and we headed south for more adventures.
Good evening, Cathy
I have to place my lot with Cortina d'Ampezzo, have been there twice and
once stayed there at the hotel D'AMPEZZO. it was an older hotel, but
must have been great a way back when.
Cortina also has some very fine ristorantes.. Here are a coupleof url's
to surf for further information.
www.hotelbook.com/
www.venere.it/
www.hotelguide.ch/
www.bbchannel.com/
www.dolomiti.org/
www.bbitalia.com/
www.alto-adige.com/
www.sunrise.it/cortina.index.html./
Good surfn, Richard of Hickory Hill,s IL

Hi, Cathy,
A bit closer to Bolzano (not in the Dolomites per se but in the wine country foothills) is Schloss Korb, a castle/hotel we stayed at years ago...close for visits to the mountains, but very peaceful. Pool, beautiful terrace restaurant, quite romantic. Here's a web reference:
http://www.initaly.com/regions/taa/hotels.htm
