Doge's Palace
I am trying to plan the first Sunday morning of our Venice adventure and have a question: If our reservation for the Secret Tour of the Doge's Palace is at 11:35, will we be allowed to enter and tour the rest of the palace on our own BEFORE that time? Thanks

That's what we did & were glad we did. We got there at opening time & managed to see most of the palace with few other people there. When we came out of the tour the rest of the palace with packed, with lots of large groups blocking the way.

We had exactly same tour for 11:35 on September 27 but we came earlier and we went around the museum. The time was about 10:30 and we saw the group gathered for 10:35 tour. We asked whether could we join them but weren't allowed. Spent an hour in their catheteria and after 30 min of our tour (the guide was very nice) we realized that just a waste of money and precious time in Venice. We left.

That must have made you very popular. You cannot leave the Secret Itineraries tour unescorted; did the whole group have to go back to let you leave?
