Does train go to Wells, England?

Does anyone know if you can get to Wells, England (reputed to be smallest city in England) via train? If not, what would be the nearest city you could reach by train and then maybe go to Wells by bus. Thanks for your help.

No - neither Wells nor nearby Glastonbury have train service. There are a couple of stations within 10 to 15 miles of Wells (Bridgewater, Bruton, Ansford, etc.) or a little farther at Weston-Super-Mare

There are hourly buses from Bristol Temple Meads rail station to Wells. There may be buses from other cities' stations as well, but the Bristol bus is the one that I know about.

Many thanks, Janis and KT; that's exactly what I need to know!

You have piqued my interest. I may be in the neighborhood this year. What is the attraction in/of Wells.

Wells has one of the most beautiful Cathedrals in the world which still has a medieval chained library of illuminated manuscripts. Plus the Bishops Palace next door. And Glastonbury abbey which is only about 5 miles away is the "traditional" burrial place of King Arthur. Plus Cheddar Gorge is in the neighborhood. Just a lovely area.
