Does the train stop in orvieto when leaving from florence?
We will be taking a train from florence to rome in September. I've read from many people on this site to see orvieto. I've been trying to figure out the best way to do this. I was looking a the rail website and they state that you can stop on your way to your destination and get off train and get back on later as long as you have a ticket. Has anyone done that before? Do you know if there is a stop on the rail in or close to orvieto? Also, is there a way that you can store your luggage at the train station while sightseeing? If so, how much? Thanks for all of your help!

Hi L,
As KY tells you on your other post, if you are on an ES* train, you can't get off and on. However, you can buy a ticket Fllorence/Orvieto and another Orvieto/Rome for about the same price as Florence/Rome. There is no luggage storage at the Orvieto station. Other posters have reported storing luggage at the hotel across the street, for a small fee. ((I)) |
Ira, are you sure there isn't luggage storage at Orvieto? I thought there was and just checked the Trenitalia website which also indicates that there is luggage storage at the Orvieto station.

Hi Jean,
There was no luggage storage when we were there in 2003. I am relying on what I read from other posters, that there is still no left luggage. ((I)) |
I called the travel agency and it looks like we're on the type of train that doesn't make stops along route. I am so confused about all the different types of trains. Is there a train that would go from Rome to orvieto? If so, what type of train is it? What website can I go to to see schedules and rates? Thanks!

Why doesn't anybody direct lola34 to www.trenitalia.it???

There is a luggage storage office located 400 mts from the train station ticket desk. Ask them for a piece of paper on "HOW TO REACH TESEO". They will help you out. The storage office is located in Viale 1 Maggio 46, Orvieto, across the traffic lights. Their email is [email protected]

Most trains from Rome to Florence stop at Orvieto. Intercity / Eurostar / Regional they all stop for sure.

Sorry mojodave, but ES trains on this route don't stop. To get this information, enter your cities on www.trenitalia.com and click details next to the train listing. On the next page click the train number. All stops and times will be listed. As you can see, ES trains have no stops.
