We will be visiting Prague in the end of Jun. We have been looking for apartments for 6 people ( 3 generations). Most of the apartments we have found in the old town center area do not seem to have air conditioning. Would AC be required during end Jun in Prague ?

If you happen to be American, you will need AC wherever you go, whenever you go anywhere. If you're any other nationality, you won't need AC in Prague or anywhere else in Central Europe.

Depends on how much you mind heat. That time of year the only places I would go without AC are Switz and Scandinavia. But I can;t sleep if the room is more than 70 degrees.

What you have to consider is that if you get a hot spell - noting - except a few upscale hotels - has AC - so you are in the heat 24/7. And it is possible - although unlikely - that yuo could get a couple of 90 degree days.

also depends on the type of building the hotel is in.most of the newer(but not all) style places have A/C and i have been in a few like that, The older buildings tend to have very thick walls that seems to keep the place a lot cooler.
I have never been in Prague hen its been so hot or humid at night that i really needed A/C except for one place when the sun had been beating on the large window of my room most of the day, a quick blast with the A/C brought it down to a reasonable temp but I never used it after that. I was staying in the Panorama hotel then , a pretty modern tower block of a hotel.

Prague is on the central european plain - so it has a continental climate - something like St Louis or similar in the summer. May not be a humid - and temps will vary. But if summer heat will bother you are you willing to take a chance?

I've been in Prague when it was pretty hot and you needed AC, more than once. Once I was there in May and it was abnormally warm, I didn't even have the right clothes (had to go out and buy capris and sandals). But it's like any place, it can get pretty hot in July, you never know.

But this is just a personal decision, no one can tell you what to do, just look at the weather stats and decide what you like in that situation, it's just a factual situation and your taste.

If people would need it, there would be many hotels that offer it, but since nobody except TOURISTS FROM THE US ask for it, and nobody has it at home, it's definitivly not needed. That's a fact. And what about Temelin.

I checked out this weather page. It looks at conditions in previous years and gives you some ideas of averages and extremes over the last several years. But as they say, past performance does not determine future returns..or something like that. But i found it interesting anyhow. Shows high and low temps for a day, so you can see how much it typically cools down at night. For me, that makes all the difference. You can also see humidity.

One August while staying at a hotel without the really tall ceilings that some older places can have, I succumbed and went to the Tesco near the Andel metro and bought a fan. At the end of the stay it fit into checked luggage so I took it home to Hamburg.
