Sí, Jaime, you'll need winter clothes. I'm from Los Angeles and was in Italy for the entire month of November. I wore a flannel-lined raincoat, long underwear, gloves and a hat everyday, and then I had to buy a wool scarf in Florence.

We arrived in Rome on Tuesday, Nov. 16, when it rained in the morning and was beautiful in the afternoon. It rained Wednesday morning while we were Pompeii, cleared in the afternoon and rained at night and the next morning in the Amalfi coast. It rained off and on Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Rome, poured on Sunday morning and drizzled the rest of the day. We left for Florence the next morning and didn't have any rain teh rest of the week on Florence and Venice.
Perhaps because Wendy is from a warm-weather climate, the weather seemed colder to her than to us. Other than wearing gloves one day in Florence, the temperature wasn't bad. Venice was beautiful (and that's the place where we expected the worst weather); however, the week before in Venice it was very rainy.
Anyway, I would suggest that you don't overload on winter clothes! Sweaters and a leather jacket (or one of comparable warmth) should do it.
P.S.: The rain never hampered nor stopped us in any way!

I was in Florence for 2 weeks this past Thanksgiving, and there was SNOW on the hills on the outskirts of the city for a couple of days! That is fairly unusual, but it remained cold throughout my stay. Definitely wore a scarf and lined leather gloves almost the entire time, and wished for silk underwear to layer under my clothes.
