Does Harrod's carry plus size clothing for women?

I am a plus size woman and would like to know if Harrod's carries larger sized clothing? This isn't a troll question.

Thanks

Yes, they do. According to a store guide I have from this year, Plus Collections can be found on Floor 1 next to the Burberry collection (by door 10).

Thank you very much Floorit.

I would think that you will probably not find the selection you're used to (if you are from the States, since Americans tend to need more plus size clothing than Europeans) or very good prices, due to the currency conversion and the fact that Harrods iteself can be pricy. A sweater that costs 50 pounds there would actually cost 85 or 90 dollars. A more expensive sweater woudl be, well, even more expensive!

Don't take this the wrong way, but if you care about what clothes you wear, and have no longterm illness, perhaps you would like to diet - that way you have a far larger selection of clothes abailable for you to choose from.

Madison, depending on what size you are, you may find you don't need a "plus" dept. While the sizes there are actually 1-2 sizes up from ours (ie a US 10 will be a UK 12 or 14), I noticed many shops that carried sizes through 20 or 22 in a regular dept. (Marks & Spencer & Jaeger are 2 examples)

I believe there is a thread here on plus sizes if you do a search. Just can't remember whether it's for Paris, London or both. BTW, Harrods IMO is nothing special as far as fashion.

There is "plus size" and then the is PLUS size. It really depends on what sizes you are talking about.

If you mean American sizes 18 through 22 or maybe 24 you will find a relatively good selection. If you are talking about larger sizes - that is more of a problem.

Leave it to m_kingdom to come through with the usual "this is how you should live your life" comment. I like the "Don't take this the wrong way...". Don't take this the wrong way m_kingdom, but you would probably have a lot more friends if you weren't so rude.

Hi Janis,

I am a plus, not plus plus size. Thank you and the others for your input.

As far as m_kingdom goes...you're just too ignorant to worry about...and maybe you should spend some time learning how to spell available instead of always being so negative.

Whilst it is not a crime (well not yet anyway) to be plus size, I fail to see why you should be proud of something that is a result of an unhealthy lifestyle usually coupled with a poor diet and overeating.

Surely every person would like to at least try to be thinner, say under a UK 14, obviously something more along the lines of 6-10 is much more desirable. The same applies to men, fat stomachs are vile too!

Let's try to promote some healthy eating - watch Graham Kerr's programmes. He used to serve the most high fat, rich dishes, not he's gone ultra healthy.

Is that UK or US 6-10 that we should all be aiming for?

m_kingdom2 Apr 27th, 2004 01:00 PM

UK dear.

SeaUrchin Apr 27th, 2004 01:10 PM

What sizes are those in the US. I have to judge my potential plus quotient.

Just remember that the Magic Kingdom only exists at Disney.

I have a mental image of M_K that is just hysterical. I would post it, but I might get banned. This person does not really exist except in thier own mind! And isn't it nice that they have access to the internet?

papagena Apr 27th, 2004 01:36 PM

LOL. You work in fashion, right?

Kayb95 Apr 27th, 2004 01:46 PM

Thank you so much mkingdom2 for your helpful suggestions on how plus-sized people should concentrate on losing weight rather than buying clothes. Your sensitivity is underwhelming.

We plus-sized people need to buy clothes, too. Would you rather see us naked? :)

CarolA Apr 27th, 2004 01:50 PM

Kay,
Just ignore M_K. The more I read the better my image gets.

I doubt we would want to see M_K even in thier "fancy" clothing. (Do Mickey Mouse T-shirts count as designer wear?)

m_kingdom2 Apr 27th, 2004 01:55 PM

Seeing as you put it like that - naked or tented up, er, tented up of course!

However, no haute couture pieces would ever look sensible in plus sizes, imagine a versace gown in an 18, let alone a 30!

Lots of weight loss can be achieved very very quickly and effectively by eating far less and far more traditionally healthy foods.

Then try the first floor at Harrods for all the fabulous designs.

I just knew some pompous old fop would
get nasty and berate an ample woman for trying to dress well.

papagena Apr 27th, 2004 01:58 PM

On a more serious note, I've heard from friends who are above a UK size 18 (US 14) that they much prefer clothes shopping in the US, both for choice and value.
