Do you need to fly? You can travel by train city center to city center in 90 minutes.

The Italian rail company is Trenitalia. There are trains at least hourly between Rome and Florence.

Take the train - easier and faster when you factor in the time it takes to get to the airport, check bags, go through security, wait, wait, wait, reclaim bags, travel from airport into town, etc.
