"If it's NW that made the mistake, I won't let them off that easily by just cancelling. They should be able to honor your fare+miles on the September flight, if that's what you found and purchased in the first place."

I appreciate the advise from my fellow travelers. I pondered whether I should call and complain and insist I get an upgrade. After thinking about it for a while, I decided to call and just give it a try and see what would come of it if I asked for reconsideration on my reservation change.

I was assured that there was nothing on the day I wanted to fly, so I would be transfered to a supervisor. I wasn't looking forward to speaking with the supervisor and was kept on hold for quite some time. The agent came back on the line and asked if I would still like to hold or . . . .

. . . if I would change my plans a bit and leave on 15 September there would be a lst class upgrade at a rate that was $200 a ticket lower than what was previously offered. $1276.32. WOW.

And to think I almost didn't call them.

Now I feel guilty because my travel partners who were so nice to change their plans for this new date and they can't get upgrades.
