We are going with Girosole on a hiking tour in September. They only operate in Italy and the group size is no more than 8 so it is a very personal experience. You can give them ideas of things you want to do/see and they will adjust the itinerary.The price drops the more people you have but I fould them to be less expensive than comparable trips for Backoads. You can pick the level of accomodation -- 3* or 4-5*.

Karen: I'm very interested in the outcome of your trip. Please report when you get back!<BR><BR>If anyone has done Randonnee (sp) in France, I'd like to hear from those persons, too. As many of you know, these are self-guided but supported tours. I like what they have to offer, but I don't know anyone who has done them. Would be very interested in a rating. Like Karen's company, they offer a choice in level of accomodation.
