does any one have any good travel company tour website??

planning to do a trip to italy next year!! hoping to make it a blast with me and my friend.

so far i have looked at eftours.com and contiki.com for travel tours in mainly italy. but i was wondering do you guys know of any others travel companies that are good, maybe some advice, tips, personal reviews??
the tours seem nice and fairly priced its just im alittle worried of the hotels and what not.
what are your guys opinions about any of the travel compaines or experiances ??

EFtours is a student tour group (a very low budget tour with hotels outside the city centers). You need to be part of a school group or taking your own group to use them (or at least that's how it used to be). Contiki is more of a party tour for college age/young adults.

Most people on this website plan their own trips. If you are a young adult, you might try the Thorntree forum on Lonely Planet. It's geared to younger budget travelers and you will find many that have used Contiki on their forums.

I recommend Tauck, www.tauck.com. There tours are expensive, but they stay at wonderful hotels, mainly 5-star. I have taken 2 tours in Italy with them and am taking another tour later this year to Venice that includes a cruise down the Dalmatian Coast. In Venice the hotel is the Danieli.

We have booked a tour with this company for next May
www.odysseys-unlimited.com They take smaller groups from 12-24 people. In the past, we have traveled with http://www.insightvacations.com/us/ We had a good tour of Italy but they take up to 40 pp. We decided this time to go with a company that takes smaller groups.

We just spent 5 weeks in Europe - including 10 days in Italy. Did everything on our own, tickets, hotels, opera performances, museums admissions, etc. It was great fun planning and we saved money but only doing what interested us and not having to bother about waiting for others on the tour to do their thing.

For package tours with all the basics provided but a good level of independence, as well as a broad choice of hotels, try go-today.com. My husband used them several times to plan trips to Europe (before he met me and left it all up to my planning skills and had all positive experiences.

Monograms by Globus is a another good option.

As one who has been traveling to Europe regularly since I was 16, I would personally hate a bus tour and like to plan my own schedule, use public transport and choose my hotels. It is easy enough to do.
