Does a 17 yr old need a Paris musuem pass?
 

We will be in Paris for 7 days & my wife & I are planning on getting the Paris museum pass. I believe my 10 yr old son will not need one, but I hear different stories about a 17 yr old. Some say they must pay at certain museums, some say they are free. One of the reasons we are getting the pass is to not wait in line & I would hate to have passes for my wife & I & then wait to get my daughter a ticket. Can anybody help with what ages are allowed free in the Paris museums? Thank you.

I have traveled with a 17 year old and just told the attendants her age and they let her in with no pass at several museums in Paris. No problems anywhere.

Was in Paris last summer with 17 and 12 year olds. Most museums they will let both in free, a few they will have to pay--but even if they do, they can go in the front of the line with you and bypass standing--the museum people will just have you pay for them when they let you in with your pass. Museum pass is a wonderful thing!

There isn't a city-wide rule for all museums, the age varies by museum. Some museums are national, some city and some private, so it varies. Also, ones geared to kids will not be free to kids.

For many, the magic age is 18 (ie, less than 18 are free): Louvre, Orsay, Picasso, Cluny, Rodin. City of Paris-owned museums have been free to everyone in the past couple of years, but I don't know the current status.
