Docking near Rostock, Germany, what can we do?

We're docking for one day in Warnemunde, Germany and we can't decide whether we should explore this fishing village and continue on to Rostock and Schwerin or go to
Berlin.. I'm not sure there is anything to do in these small towns but i don't know if 6 hours
of travel ( 3 hours each way) is worth going in to Berlin for 6-7 hours. Please give me your opinions on this matter... natjgc

It was a Sunday when we docked there. and there was an outdoor market near the docked we carried on up the road and came to a beach. and walked back to the ship. People who went to Berlin said it was a a long way.and didn't see much. Most of the places we docked at we used the hop on & off buses, We used the ships tour in St Petersburg , On cruise critic people highly recommend some very good & reasonable private tours which include the visa.

Going to Berlin means you'll waste more than half the day travelling, and Berlin is a city that cannot be seen in five or six hours. In other words, a horrible rat race with little outcome.

Surely there is a lot to do and see closer to the port. I cannot tell you about Warnemünde itself but about some places nearby that can be reached easily. The links below take you to pages that I wrote over on Virtualtourist with lots of tips and photos:

All of these small towns look charming but what is there to do all day except walk to the town square and admire the architecture? We could hire a guide and have him( or) her meet us either at the boat or in Berlin. My friend wants to go this route but i know that 6 hours is a long time to travel for the day to one place. I'm really torn.. natjgc

Check the tips in my pages and you have enough to do to fill a week...

I would NOT spend 6 hours traveling to and from Berlin. I like Berlin a great deal but when we docked where you are docking we found plenty of local diversions. Save Berlin when you have more time to do it justice.
