Do you tip hotel concierge---Paris?

I will be staying in Paris for 15 nights and will use the concierge or hotel staff for some reservations. Do you tip every staff person who provides service? Each time or upon departure? I've searched but haven't seen any info on this subject?

Good evening, Beth Personally would<BR>tip the concierge for the specific service, he renders, each time, and <BR>perhaps a greater amount in the beginning to insure acknowledgement.<BR>If this is incorrect, please advise but<BR>have been doing this for many years<BR>and have not had a problem..<BR>Richard of LaGrange Park, Il..

Beth, Richard's advice is correct. The concierge is tipped at the time service is given. Have a wonderful time in Paris- 15 days, lucky you!!!

I agree, better to tip each time service is rendered. How many Euro would you tip for, say, a hotel reservation?

I tipped $60 (US $ because I was out of Euro and I knew the hotel had an exchange service) in an envelope with "for the staff" marked on it at the end of a three day stay. There was no concierge as far as I could tell, but the reception desk staff(several different people) helped with one reservation, a confirmation, called a health club for me, general questions, etc.<BR><BR>Was that a faux pas?

Danna<BR>I don't think trying to be generous is ever a faux pas. I would just be concerned that whoever gets the envelope is honorable enough to truly share it.<BR><BR>Tipping suggestions in general<BR><BR>http://www.bparis.com/newsletter1464...attrib_id=1946 <BR><BR>www.worldexecutive.com/cityguides/paris/etiquette.html<BR><BR>www.fodors.com (click on tipping guides) or check your guidebook<BR><BR>Concierges specifically: http://conciergeassoc.org/concierg/concierg.htm<BR><BR><BR>
