Do you know this restaurant in Berlin?
Hi,
I'm a cash-strapped university student visiting her even more cash-strapped student friend in Berlin. I'd like us to have just ONE nicer meal with good German food. He's from Wurzberg, so he's totally useless when it comes to planning for Berlin. Saw this restaurant's website: http://www.aigner-gendarmenmarkt.de/ It looks great, though not sure how legit it is to judge a restaurant by its website... Has anyone been there? Know its food? |
I was there a couple of weeks ago. Probably unfair of me to comment on the food as it was a set menu for a large party - we had a very nice starter of marinated salmon, a main course of venison which was to my taste overcoooked, & apple strudel. Not particularly German apart from the apple strudel. The restaurant was however very atmospheric with dark wood panelling.
See my trip report for some other suggestions of very cheap places with typuical German food - http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34614269 |
Thanks Caroline!
I had a look at the menu online and thought they had a lot of German-sounding dishes...but was the restaurant busy? With younger people, business people, tourist people? Thanks! |
this restaurant is always recommended by travellers. we walked past it and it IS lovely.
if you just want a good meal , nice place, wthout breaking the bank.. many pub-type places are great. can't give you the names.. but you could eat there for about 12 euros/person .. maybe ask for that on your next post. might suit your budget better. but back to original question.. aigner looks fabulous and would be an enjoyable, elegant evening.we have it on our list for next time.. just wasn't enough time . |
I'd say there was a mix of people when we went - maybe mostly middle aged & quite smart though. I preferred all the other places we ate.
