Do you know these Paris hotels?
 

Thanks to everyone who helped with advice on inexpensive paris hotels!! In researching I am finding availability to be a challenge (traveling in the Christmas timeframe.)

Eurocheapo has proven invaluable to show availability. Would anyone recommend any of the following hotels?

Also, this is my first trip to paris.. I am a single young woman and would like a quaint area in the heart of it all where I can safely walk around. Please do let me know if there are areas you would recommend that I look at, or that I should stay out of.

We stayed a couple of blocks away at their sister hotel the Abbatial St. Germain. We happened to pass the Agora and it's not on a very busy street. The area is in the Latin Quarter but it's only a few blocks to St. Germain and the Seine. Very convenient and safe area. Not too sure about the rooms but they look a bit basic on their website.

Sorry, I was referring to the Agora St. Germain hotel.

I don't know any of these hotels, but would like to tell you this: I believe you will have a wonderful time. I'm a woman of 33 and single, and have just returned from a long trip to Paris. It's amazing, and I felt safe nearly all the time. I found the people to be very friendly and helpful, the metro very convenient and easy to use. And the place, what can I say, I'd never seen anything like it. I'm probably going back in 6 months time, and I can't wait!

I'm debating if I want to stop in Zurich first (I have a connection through there). Does anyone have any thoughts? It would be either 2 days Zurich and 4 in Paris, or 6 in Paris..

Does everything in Paris shut down for Christmas? I was going to stop in Zurich, but it would have been on 12/25-12/26 and I have been told on another chat that nothing really is open. Does the same go for Paris? Thanks!!

I just returned from a solo trip to Paris (my first solo trip - I've been to Paris several times with friends/family) and I stayed at the Hotel de France (7). I loved the hotel and the area - felt very safe - walked everywhere. There are two metro stops close by, Rue Cler, lots of restaurants. It is a peaceful, quiet area and the hotel staff is very nice (and they all speak English).

My room was small, but comfortable, extremely clean and I will definitely stay there again when I return in March.

Have a wonderful trip. I loved being on my own.

We stayed one night at this hotel on our way home. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the location was convenient. There was some traffic noise in the evening but it died down and we slept fine. It is not a fancy or especially "charming" place but it was pleasant, clean, reasonably priced, and perfectly adequate.

Does anyone know about any of the other hotels? Thanks!!

Reddattitude - yes, that is the hotel. I paid 72 Euro per night - a bargain, I think.
