Do You Have a Favorite Travel Alarm?
 

I have not had good luck with travel alarms. Any recommendations?

I love my Braun. Have had it for eons and it's never let me down. It's compact and easy to tuck into a carry on.

On the side of the alarm it says: Type: 4784/AB 313 sl - I assume this is the model #.

I have a Casio PQ-10 I've been using for several years. It's two and half by two inches when closed, 12 or 24-hour clock & snooze. Don't remember where I bought it, though.

Mine is a Casio PQ-15. I've used it everyday for almost six years and I think I've only changed the batteries twice. I'll be looking for another when this one fails.

Before cell phones, though, I bought a travel alarm clock from Brookstone. it had two faces, so I had American time and then the time zone where I was. It was a wonderful little device.

Now using the cell on trips, but previously used the Timex travel alarm sold on the Rick Steves site. In fact, we use one for our regular alarm clock at home.

I have a Cardinal that I bought at London Drugs in Canada. It folds up pretty flat, and the cover folds around to become a base. Runs on 1 AA battery, is digital, has a light up button for nighttime. I think it was under $10. I have had much fancier, but either forgot how to operate them and/or they took a special battery and/or they were bigger. I really love this one.

I like the Franzus travel alarm I got at a AAA travel store. It's a little sturdier and works better than some other cheaper ones I've bought (like Timex). It wasn't expensive (maybe $10), just a single AA battery runs it.

I have a Timex which I hate even though it folds up nice because it is impossible to get it to stop ringing the alarm. The alarm goes off every single day even if you switch it to off. At least it only rings at the set time. YOu can buy Timex clocks in drugstores and discount stores all over the US, no reason to buy from Rick Steves.

I have one about the size of a credit card. It holds a picture of one of my dogs on one side, the digital display of the time on the other. The alarm is the sound of one of my dogs barking. I love it! Got it at Brookstone.

I use the hotel front desk too, but I've read enough stories of people who did not get their wakeup calls that I'd never rely solely on that for an early morning departure.

I like my cell phone as a travel alarm also. However, you might have to consider how to recharge it using European plugs (I think you just get an adapter for your recharger, but I'm not sure.)
