Do you ever Pre-Pay for hotel discount
 

A highly rated B&B in Rome has offered us a 10% discount if we prepay for our entire six night stay. Our trip is not until Summer. The savings is substantial enough that we would like to take advantage of it. Is this practice customary in Italy?

If you have trip insurance that will reimburse you if, for some reason, you need to cancel, I'd go for it. We prepaid to take a 6-night safari in Botswana last year to get an astonishing cost. For six nights I should hope you'd get some kind of discount (maybe even one free night) but then, if you are going in high season 10% isn't bad.

I would do this with a hotel or through a reputable booking site, and have many times, but I'm not sure 10% would be sufficient incentive and I'm not sure I'd do a prepay for a B&B.

I have received discounts for paying with cash and have surely taken advantage of this in both Florence and Venice. Don't know if this is the same thing or if this helps but I sure hope so.

Does prepaying in full in this case, also mean there is no cancellation possible? Of if you do cancel do you get your money back? I often see incredible discounts on the internet if you pay if full at time of booking, but generally they are 100% non-changeable or cancellable (is that a word?).
