karens, you have mentioned this on a couple of threads.
I think the nuttiness of the boards goes in cycles, this past few weeks has been hard, trolls etc.
It will go back to the way things usually are.
But even with what you see as 'pettiness' and 'highschool behavior' ( believe me, I never went to a high school like Fodors :O!! I think that the good advice and help outweighs any of the nonsense.

Attending Fodorite High in Fodorville would have been alot more fun than Dullorite High in Dullsville where I went.

Think of the fun we would have had!

Scarlett - you are right - I have complained about this on several threads, and perhaps now I should just keep quiet.

As tiresome as it is to see such pettiness, it is also tiresome to read the same people saying the same things!

I used to be on another travel board, where as soon as someone posted a broad question, such as, What are the must sees in City X, inevitably the same guy would reply: "This question is impossible to answer without knowing what you are interested in, do you like museums or do you like this, etc." It got pretty annoying to open up thread after thread and have to read him going off. I guess this was his pet peeve!

So I will keep quiet about my "pet peeve" for now!

"After many years as a minor government functionary, I finally realized that if I buried everything under a pile of paper I could respond only to those people who sent me a follow up and let the other stuff go."

Thank you, ira. At long last I'm beginning to see the way our government works.

Patrick,
there is one poster on here who does all of his Trolling from his office, where he works for the government!
Kinda gives one a new outlook on the face of todays government employee :O
