Do we need a/c in Barcelona in June?

We have booked 5 night at Hostal Martina, a perfect location and great price, but now find that they have no a/c. We are traveling in late June. We are from Arizona, so heat is not unknown to us, but anything over 72F at night will make us yearn for our familiar a/c. the Martina does provide fans, so that will help. Other accomdations are avaialble, but in not so good an area or at a much higher price. Budget is, unfortunately, an issue on this holiday, but not to the point of being miserable for $20 more per night. Comments everyone? From on-line weather reports, I dont' see that there will be a problem with having no a/c, but everyone keeps warning us to move to another hotel. Is the humidty (which does bother us) THAT bad in late June????

I think temps in the high 80's in Barcelona in late June are not unheard of. You sound like me, anything above 70 at night and I need A/C to sleep comfortably. I admit it, I'm spoiled. I would not book a hotel without A/C in Spain in June.

agree with PP.
I am not a big a/c user but often ,in big cities, the noise
from the street does make it impossible to keep the window open. I would change the hotel.

Humidity will not be problem. Otherwise, cruiseluv is perfectly right. At least there is a chance that temperatures drop at night. Usually it is not so bad in hotel rooms, because they keep the shutters closed all day.

The natives' rhythm is like this: They sleep during the warm hours in the afternoon and are active in the night. Dinner time starts at 9 p.m. They got to bed in the small hours when it had cooled down.

If you are willing to adjust to this rhythm, you won't have a problem with missing A/C in June. And you will discover the wonders of Barcelona.

I agree with cruiseluv and danon,
I'd would not book a hotel without a/c at that time. I'll also be there in late June and have booked a hotel with a/c-the Acta (formerly Apsis) Atrium Palace.

When we went to Italy in June, I had been warned about the heat, so we made sure all the places had AC - and we froze! We even wanted heat or extra blankets in one place but were told they were unavailable because it was June. It's so hard to tell.

Can you tell from on-line pictures if you can open the windows and if that would help? We were once put up for the night by British Airways at a horrible hotel near Gatwick. It was warm (but not hot) and the hotel had no AC. What made it almost unbearable is that the windows only opened from the top a maximum of 6 inches!
