"The Lakes beauty is in its lack of scale and green landscapes. Larger landscapes such as Scotland and Canada are not comparable, they have mountains and lower average temperatures, leaving a totally different environment."
That has to be the most amusing justification for their lack of size I have ever heard. The beauty is in its lack of size.
Kind of like, 'one daisy is beautiful, a dozen roses are not comparable, they're a totally different thing.'
Duhhh, yeah, that's true I suppose. Well, I guess there always is the 'odd' one who sees things that way.
The point was not that the Lake District isn't 'pretty' Dickie. It is pretty, but it is also very small and crowded. My point was as I wrote, "My question adelle is about your expectations. I just don't want to see someone spend 5 days of their precious time somewhere and it not meet expectations."
If you expect a dozen roses, a daisy won't cut it. If on other hand, you only expect a daisy, then you'll be happy with what you get in the Lake District.
Or should I have made that a Daffodil?
