Do they have coat checks at majoe museums in Paris?

I'm interested to know if I can check a heavy jacket/coat while viewing for hours in the museums. Anyone?

I know you can at the Louvre and the Orsiy (sorry about the spelling).

We went in January and I seem to remember being able to check coats, umbrellas, and bags at every museum we went to. I don't remember lugging all that stuff in any of the museums but my memory is not perfect.

Also, they don't like you to carry large items in many museums, like backpacks, because you could accidently back into a piece of art and damage it. So it seemed that most places encouraged or required you to check your bags.

Paris museums all have coat checks from the big ones - - Louvre, Orsay, Pompidou - - to smaller places like the Marmottan and the Picasso Musuem. In fact they're pretty much identical to American museums in terms of coat checks, gift shops, restrooms, and for the bigger ones cafes and restaurants. The only noticeable difference is that guards in state museums don't wear uniforms.

The Rodin has a coat check as well. Large bags or backpacks must be checked at most museums, too.
